On Saturday, November 7, Bonnet Springs Park and the Florida Children's Museum will be closed to the public all day. The Central Florida Food Fest runs that evening from 5 to 9, it's 21 and over, and after 4 p.m. only ticketholders get through the gates. That same morning, the Veterans Day ceremony and parade fill downtown.
So the park everyone heads to on a Saturday is closed, and downtown fills up. Most of the restaurants and bakers serving at the festival can be found during the rest of the year within a short walk or drive of the parade route. If you don't have a ticket, or you're bringing kids, you can still eat your way through much of the festival lineup that Saturday and the weekends after it, without going near the park gates.
The Saturday, in order
The day starts early and ends late, and it moves around town as it goes.
| Time | What's happening | Where | Good to know |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fri., Nov. 6, 6–9 p.m. | First Friday, "Goin' Country" | Kentucky Avenue, downtown | Makers market, exhibitors, food, family activities |
| Sat., 7–10 a.m. | Cars & Coffee, listed on the park calendar | Bonnet Springs Park lot across from the Welcome Center | Conflicts with the all-day closure; confirm with the park first |
| Sat., 10 a.m. | Veterans Day ceremony | Veterans Memorial Park | Part of the downtown Veterans Day program |
| Sat., 11 a.m. | Veterans Day parade | RP Funding Center into downtown | 2026 street route not yet posted |
| Sat., 4 p.m. | Food Fest gates open to ticketholders | Bonnet Springs Park | Park open to ticketholders only from here on |
| Sat., 5–9 p.m. | Central Florida Food Fest | Harrell Family Botanical Gardens and Event Center | 21+, bites and drinks $6 to $10 each |
The Cars & Coffee row needs a check. The park's Cars & Coffee page still lists November 7 from 7 to 10 a.m. in the lot across from the Welcome Center. The festival FAQ, posted more recently, says the park is closed to the public all day. If you were planning to bring a car, ask the park before you head out.
The morning belongs to downtown
The Downtown Lakeland calendar lists a 10 a.m. ceremony at Veterans Memorial Park and an 11 a.m. community parade from the RP Funding Center into Downtown Lakeland. This year's event also marks America's 250th anniversary. The street route for 2026 hasn't been posted yet. Last year, according to the City of Lakeland, the parade went east on Lemon Street, turned north on Kentucky Avenue and finished in the Munn Park parking lot. LkldNow told 2025 spectators to watch from Lemon Street or Kentucky Avenue. That's a good place to start this year too, as long as the 2026 route matches.
The ceremony is at Veterans Memorial Park, which the city lists on Lake Beulah Drive. Last year's event announcement gave the address as 701 West Lime Street. If you arrive early, you'll have time to walk the grounds. They include the Bicentennial Rose Garden, a World War II plaza, a Purple Heart memorial, and memorials to law enforcement and fire rescue. According to the city, the Polk County Veterans Council helped shape the park and has played a central role in its monuments.
By noon, the parade has ended a few blocks from much of the festival lineup's regular spots.
The festival lineup, most days of the week
The Food Fest vendor list reads a lot like a guide to where to eat in Lakeland, and most of it is open well beyond one ticketed night. Here's where to find the vendors with a regular, public home base.
| Festival vendor | Where it is the rest of the year | Format |
|---|---|---|
| Nineteen61 | 215 E. Main St., downtown | Restaurant |
| Mom's Momo | Catapult Lakeland, 502 E. Main St. | Pop-up |
| Meraki Bakehouse | Downtown Lakeland Farmers Market, Saturdays 8 a.m.–2 p.m. | Market stall, plus local coffee shops |
| La Piñata | 850 S. Tennessee Ave. | Restaurant, Sat. and Sun. 4–9 p.m. |
| Pizza Odyssey | Inside Lake Morton Market and Deli, across from the Lakeland Public Library | Counter |
| Cob & Pen | Tudor House | Restaurant, now with weekday lunch |
| Pour Bear Coffee | 4608 Cleveland Heights Blvd., Shoppes at Hallam | Coffee shop |
Downtown has a cluster of them. Nineteen61 is on East Main Street, and Mom's Momo runs pop-ups at Catapult Lakeland a few blocks east. Meraki Bakehouse sells on Saturdays at the Downtown Lakeland Farmers Market from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., and its pastries also turn up at several local coffee shops. Pop-ups move around, so check Mom's Momo's listing before you go.
Lake Morton has the other cluster, and it includes the newest restaurant on the list. La Piñata went from outdoor pop-ups to its own space at 850 S. Tennessee Ave. Its site now says "Now open" for inside and outside dining, Saturday and Sunday from 4 to 9 p.m. In its September roundup, LALtoday described the chefs as Michelin-trained and said they were opening on weekends while they finished the space. La Piñata's dinner service starts at 4 p.m. on Saturday, the same hour festival ticketholders start lining up at the park gates. You can have the chefs' food at their own tables while the festival is on, with no ticket and no age limit. Pizza Odyssey is nearby too, inside Lake Morton Market and Deli across from the Lakeland Public Library, according to LkldNow.
Cob & Pen is in the Tudor House. LkldNow reported in February that it added weekday lunch and kept some favorites from Good Thyme's menu. In south Lakeland, Pour Bear Coffee is in the Shoppes at Hallam on Cleveland Heights Boulevard.
A few vendors take a short drive
Some of the lineup is based outside Lakeland, and those trips make easy weekend outings of their own. Maritime is a full-service seafood restaurant in Bowen Yard at 302 4th St. SW in Winter Haven. The Depot 303 food hall in Mulberry, at 303 NW 1st Ave., has a Pizza Odyssey stall, and the owners of Pinoy Cravings run Tilaw Asian Fusion there, according to LkldNow's report on the food hall. Depot 303 also helped create the festival's drink menus, along with The Joinery, Dram House Lakeland and Lugo's Craft Distillery.
Bang Bang Bakehouse ships online orders and turns up at local events and pop-ups instead of a storefront, so you'll find it at events rather than at an address.
If you do have a ticket
Festival tickets cover parking. Trams run between the Kirby Center and the Florida Children's Museum lot during the event. The park takes credit cards and tap to pay, and it has cash-to-card machines at the Hollis Family Welcome Center and The Depot Cafe. Food and drinks cost extra, with bites and sips at $6 to $10 each, and tickets are non-refundable. DJ Lady Shay opens at 5 p.m., Ripperdüski plays from 5:20 to 6:50, and Baba Caiman closes from 7 to 9, with DJ KaoticBlaze in the Speakeasy Lounge. Proceeds support the park's programs.
Once the park reopens, the rest of November
The closure lasts one day. After that, the park and downtown have events on most of the remaining November weekends.
- Tuesday, November 10, 6–8 p.m. The Silent Book Club meets at Bonnet Springs Park with the Polk County Library Cooperative, and drinks and snacks are for sale.
- Saturday, November 14, 10 a.m.–1 p.m. RideSafe Fall Fest is a free family event at the park with bike and e-scooter safety activities, a course, and free children's helmets while supplies last.
- Saturday, November 21, 8–11 p.m. The 39th annual Lakeland Margarita Ball is at Lake Mirror Promenade, 121 S. Lake Avenue. It's 21 and over, and guests are asked to bring an unwrapped toy.
- Saturday, November 28. Downtown's calendar lists Small Business Saturday all day and a Holiday Craft Bazaar in Munn Park from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
If November 7 has you thinking about how close you'd like to live to Main Street or Lake Morton, The Key Is Nikii can show you what's around the blocks you're considering, from the parade route to the corner where La Piñata opens at 4. And if you already own a home near downtown, start by requesting your free home valuation.
